The goal of this proposed masterplan is to transform the run-down beachside village of Dongchong on Shenzhen’s Dapeng Peninsula into a thriving eco-friendly resort community for residents and visitors alike. The plan is physically footprint-neutral, and puts special emphasis on making existing agricultural spaces and access to nature trails the center of the resort’s attractions, in addition to the beach itself. The plan provides for a large beachfront resort, new housing for existing residents, and villas with resort access, all centered around a dynamic but pedestrian-friendly commercial strip that was parametrically derived from the lagoon and mountain landscape.
