This assembly of wood and canvas was designed to hold the human body and provide with a degree of shelter from the elements. It can be used in either an upright or reclined position while shading the occupant’s face from the sun, making it ideal for reading. To lighten the wood structure without sacrificing strength, a series of rectilinear voids was cut into both sides in a pattern reminiscent of late-20th century electronic punch-cards. The entire assembly folds together for ease of transport. / Dwelling Chair / Studio III / Spring 2008
